Update and Twisted Stitches

It's been quite a while since I've posted anything for the shop. This is a partly due to the fact that I dislocated my shoulder again on the 8th of February. I've been doing physical therapy, and though I can't yet do some of the marathon knitting I'm used to, I'm quite able to work on designs and merch. In fact, I've been working a pattern for a hood/cowl combo piece that I hope to get to my test knitters sometime soon.

If you're wondering why none of the patterns I've posted about in the past have made it into the shop: late last year, I found out I've been knitting twisted, and though there's nothing particularly wrong with that (especially if you recognize its strengths and weaknesses v. untwisted knitting), it makes it a bit hard to market a pattern, since most people actively avoid twisting their stitches and many don't want to learn a new way of knitting just for a hat.

Therefore, I've been working on modifying the patterns to work for untwisted knitting. This mostly involves adding length and decreasing the number of stitches in the rounds, since twisted stitches are longer but more compact in width. The patterning is where this becomes most problematic, and what's making it more of a chore than a delight. It's an unexpected setback that I'm determined to work around eventually, but for the nonce I've been more focused on making new patterns specifically for untwisted knitting.
